A Tale Of Dragons

Long, long ago, a creature neither good nor bad came upon the world. They stood for justice, power, and knowledge, or so they claimed. The problem between the dragons and humans was that the ideas of the humans didn't mingle with the ideas of the dragon, so the humans dubbed the dragons demons and monsters. The humans murdered them one by one using their bones for tools and weapons due to their magical qualities. Sometimes they would grind them up into powder and use them as medicines.

The dragons had to take their dead and people to parallel world to hide their dead and fellow dragons from the humans who the dragons now also called monsters and demons.

Some dragons stayed but a small group. These were the golden dragons. They had the power to shape shift. They were known for changing from dragon to human form or from human to dragon amongst the other dragons and were permitted to stay in order to keep an eye on the greedy creatures. It was believed that the humans would eventually kill themselves off and that the dragons would come home, but it didn't happen that way.

One day a beautiful dragon princess was born. She fell in love with a human prince and she married him. Her father was furious. The prince had no idea he was married to a dragon, less alone that dragons still existed, and she wasn't going to let him find out.

She had a heart to heart with her father and when that didn't work she asked to be exiled from her home. The rest of the dragons left the world never to return. The prince now king was awestruck when his first born had horns and a tail. As he raised his sword to strike the demon child born, his wife knocked him against the wall with a powerful forceful thud he fell unconscious.

The kings men came to the room to rescue the young king only to be knocked unconscious by their Queen in her dragon form. The king was still alive but was still lifeless looking on the floor. The queen didn't know what to do. She had to appeal to her husbands sense of honor, loyalty, love and trust. Her father said this would happen but she wouldn't listen. Now she looked around her and saw the horrific mess she had made of things. She had to get her husband out of there somehow so she could talk to him alone, but how? Not only that but she was still in labor and had to find a safer place to finish having the rest of her litter. You would think she would think of these things ahead of time she tought to herself.

She took her husband and her newborn son and flew to an abandoned castle in a neighboring island which was thought to be totally destroyed and was deserted. There she tied him down so he wouldn't try to hurt her or her son again, and finished giving birth to five more children. Two girls and three more boys.

When the prince awoke, he was furious. Tried as he may, he couldn't get loose from his bonds. He looked around and saw the six basinets. Three of the basinets were the size of small normal sized babies. The other three looked like they would hold a large dog. Then he saw her holding one of the babies as she rocked back and forth in the rocking chair.

"Untie me you beast." he yelled and screamed over and over.

"Not until you get an attitude adjustment." she responded.

"You lied to me." he fumed.

"I didn't lie. I just didn't tell you everything about myself." she replied.

"You said you were a princess."

"I am. I am the princess of the Golden Dragons, so I didn't lie at all." she responded.

"Untie me." he screamed

"I don't think so. You tried to kill our son, and you are still yelling. That only shows you have a lot of hostility left."

"I thought he was a demon."

"Do you think I'm a demon?" she asked with tears in her eyes.

"Yes and No. I don't know what to think. You could have killed me, but you didn't. Could you please untie me. I promise I won't try and hurt you, him or the others." he told her.

"Excuse me, I love you."she squinted as she started to confess as she slowly untied him, not certain if it was a trick or not. " I knocked all your men out with my tail. I don't know how your son and I will ever be able to go back now. You can go if you want. I can't and won't try to force you to love me. I envisioned things to be better than this. Now everything is ruined."

"Everything isn't ruined. I still love you." he told her putting his arm around her." I can certainly understand you not telling me you were or rather that you are a dragon. You could have given more warning. I almost ran our kid through because of your secret dear." the king told his wife as he lay on the bed tied down really wanting to hold his wife and new born son, but having to wait for her to finish untieing his bonds.

"I sure did mess things up didn't I." she told him as she finished untying him.

The king held his wife, looked around the room and saw the basinets. This time he looked proud instead of horrified.

"As strong as your mother is, no one is going to mess with you. You'll probably be able to kick my hind quarters."

"And then some my dear husband. It is a good thing dragons are peaceful creatures."

"So, you are a real dragon, and my son is half dragon. How many kids do we have, and were are the rest of the dragons?"

"There are six of babies. We have two girls and four boys. One of the kids looks very human, but it is a girl. I haven't named any of them yet." was her reply to the question about the children. "My people are in a parallel world." she answered her husband for the question as to were the other dragons were, as if he should know what that was.

"I was exiled as soon as I married you. My father took the remainder of the dragons still here on your world and took them to the other world.”

"So now what?" he looked at her puzzled.

"Now we take you home and I will leave my fate to be decided by you and your people. My fate was left in your hands the day I decided to become your wife."

"You are forgetting someone. Our kids need you, and my people will most likely judge you and them as monsters. You and they will have to stay here or somewhere safe. I will return to you, but you can't go back, and neither can our kids."

"What about your kingdom? You need an heir. Our first born can't be it if they know he is mine."

"Will the horns and tail go away or something?"

"We are shape shifters. He might be able to shape shift to look normal. I don't know. He won't get that ability till he is five or so."

"Good, then when he turns five, I will bring him to the courts, announce that I have a son from a woman I met abroad trying to make my way home to my kingdom and he can be king when I die."

"He'll make you the proudest father ever, and so will the others."

"How old will they live to be? I mean, how long do dragons live?"

"Our sons and daughters are half human and half dragon. I don't know how long any of them will live, however, you might want to consider taking a second wife to cover your tracks in case the boy can't shape shift."

"But, I don't want another wife."

"Truthfully, I don't want you to have another wife either, but this is for your own good and the good of our people. Dragons can live to be 500 years or so. My safest bet is probably to place Atlantis in a protective bubble and sink it."

"What do you mean sink it. How am I suppose to visit?"

" I don't know. I'll think of something, maybe a tunnel?"
