Teaching young children to tie can sometimes be a little challenging, particularly if the child has a different handedness than you or if he's just not quite ready to grasp the technique of tying.  This article shows a simple of method of tying that will serve the purpose until your child is more ready to learn "the correct way".  One benefit, too, is that because young children who do learn the correct way to tie often tie loosely, this easier method can help shoelaces from coming untied so readily.
