Teddy Bear

I write fiction and I am a character so that makes me, in real life, a fictional character, and characters usually don't do what you expect them to do; just like this article.

But, if I were to be a different fictional character I would be "Teddy Bear." For everyone needs their Teddy Bear. Superman and the super heroes would have nothing on me, for all they do is try to destroy the villains of this world. Super heroes tend to, after the fact, try to fix what is wrong, just like us husbands.

I would be Teddy Bear and I would bear the hurts and sorrows of the people who are abused in this world. I would take their pain and return to them love, acceptance, and encouragement, by telling them how great they really are.

Most evil villains believe that they must prove they are something, but no one ever told them that they are something, they are special, and they do have value. Just think what this world would be like if the evil villains of this present world had a Teddy Bear when they were a kid, who told them just how great they truly were instead of beating them down with all kinds of names that destroyed their little spirits. Just think of how different this world would be if Hitler had had a Teddy Bear. A Teddy Bear who told him he was brilliant and intelligent and had encouraged him to speak on behalf of those less fortunate than himself. But alas no, me and my family of bears were not allowed near his hurting heart. There was no one to hug him; there was no one to say that he was special, and so he had to go out into the world and prove he was special, he was of the superior race, though we all know how devastating his activities were and we in no way even begin to approve or minimize them. He had to prove he was better; he had to prove he was something, at the expense of 6 million Jews and millions of others. All because as he was never hugged and held by his one and only, very special confidant, who never told his secrets or said a bad word to him. This all happened because he didn't have a Teddy Bear (at least in my fictional story written here and in my dreams where something so simple could prevent hideous crimes).

Will you join me in being a Teddy Bear to someone who is hurting, who has no one to tell them they are special, who has deep wounds on their hearts because of what others have inflicted on them? For hurting people, hurt people. Even most of our super heroes were wounded in their lives.

So, I say to you, you are special, you do have the love to help others, you do have the compassion in you, you do have what it takes to take someone in your arms and to let them pour out their hurts to you, and to tell them they are special and loved.

Don't worry if you become a teddy bear to the world, you will not be fictional, you will be very real to them. You have what it takes to change the world, for you too are special, just like your Teddy Bear always told you.
