It is estimated that there are 20 million Americans that are not sexually intimate with their partner. According to the American Medical Association 40 million Americans are not having sex with their partner at all. Some couples report that they have some sex, or claim that it is seldom. Furthermore, according to sexual health experts:a sexless marriage is having sex 10, or less times a year. Compared to the normal amount of one, or two times a week on average.

There are many different reasons why a given person would get sick of sex, or just tired of it. For instance, there could be a medical condition, physiological condition, psychological, or just down right too tired! Lets look at the most popular reasons why people aren't having sex.

Bored of sex with their partner

The spice was gone from their sex life. The lack of variety in their sexual union caused one of the partners to go adrift. Furthermore, one or both partners sought out pleasure elsewhere because they were bored with the same love making routine. Even more, men are much more likely to cheat on their partner. Age Factors

Older Americans are more likely to suffer from a disproportionate percentage of sexual dysfunction. That are caused by medical conditions, or from side affects from medical treatment. In addition, 10 to 15 million American men suffer from impotence. About 5 percent are at the age of 40, and 15 to 25 percent are 65 years of age or older that experience impotence.

Furthermore, after menopause ones testosterone could be low, and that also will cause failure of a healthy libido. The National Health and Social Life Survey suggest that 33 percent of women from the ages of 18-59 report a loss of sexual desire for a few months out of a year. In addition, this condition increases after age 60 due to age, more so than from menopause.

Men's research findings report that 15 to 30 million American men have a problem achieving and maintaining an erection. 40 percent of them suffer from impotence on occasion, and the percentage increases with age.

Some medical conditions that may cause a loss of sexual arousal are antidepressants such as: Selective Serotonin Re uptake Inhibitors ( SSRIs ), hypertension, diabetes, erectile dysfunction, Pre-menopause, vascular disease, drugs, hormone imbalances, neurological conditions, pelvic trauma, surgery, radiation therapy, Peyronie's disease, and Venous leak, and loss of libido after childbirth, often called 'Post-baby coolness.'

Psychological Reasons

USC Health Magazine report that 20 percent of adults have a psychological sexual dysfunction. From The Journal of Public Health Medicine; a study completed by 100 general practitioners (GP) estimated that 46 percent of attendees had psychological systems that caused a loss of libido. Some of the mental reasons could be caused by being: depressed, anxiety, fear; worrying about adequate performance, prior abuse that could be from mental abuse, or sexual abuse, self esteem, and shyness.

Too busy for it

People that are working long hours, child care, and other responsibilities are often to tired at the end of the day to do anything but sleep. ABC News survey report that 44 percent of females (that called in) claim their husbands were the ones that were to tired for lovemaking.

Single

Not having a partner or / and the potential for going on many "dud dates" can throw a wrench into anyone's potential love life. In addition, being discouraged without any possible hope for a good date, or having negative thoughts about dating in general often cause the loss of sexual desires.

Weight issues

The International Journal of Behavior Nutrition and Physical Activity report that 60 percent of Americans are overweight. Thereby, being overweight causes an increase risk for erectile dysfunction that leads to loss of sex. Also, people that are overweight are more self conscious of their bodies, which could be a factor for not wanting to have sex.
