More and more people are coming to realize that zoos are no place for social, intelligent, sensitive, wide-ranging elephants. Recently, the ailing and lonely Maggie of the Anchorage zoo and Ruby of the LA zoo were both, thankfully, retired to the PAWS sanctuary in California, and more elephants will be freed in the future from zoo imprisonment.
