Terri Irwin may lose Australia Zoo
Terri Irwin the widow of the late Steve Irwin is facing a court battle that may cost he the Australia Zoo. Terri Irwin has lost a bid to have a court case against the zoo for a £1.2 million debt moved from Victoria to Queensland, where the zoo is based.
The Australia zoo is being pursued by debt collectors Alyssa Treasury Services, which assumed debts allegedly outstanding to numerous overseas companies and banks.
Alyssa Treasury Services claims Terri and the Australia Zoo, which was opened by Steve's father Bob in 1970, failed to abide by a business agreement concerning the repayment of the zoo's debt.
When the legal action first came out last year, Terri denied any knowledge of the debt..
At the beginning of this past week, Bob Irwin stepped down from Australia Zoo after being banned from entering the zoo. Bob later revealed he plans to create a rival business in Queensland on a 242-acre site.
