Texas Teens Lead U.S. in Births

The birth rate of teens in the United States has taken a downward trend. However; that doesn't mean sexual activity among teens has slowed. In fact, it is on the increase. Even more alarming is the fact that more teens are professing to have had sex with multiple partners.

In Texas, teens are not only continuing to have sex, but they are getting pregnant at the highest rate in the country. Over 20% of the teen pregnancies in Texas were not a first occurrence.

The problem is blamed on the Texas approach of teaching abstinence without providing any form of birth control instruction. The real problem is, in my view, the lack of parental upbringing and moral decency. A child who is taught extra-marital sex is wrong from a young age is most likely not going to experience the travails of pregnancy as a teenager.
