The 13th Ring of Hell ~ Telemarketing Nightmare Update

The original ranting session, about the original telemarketer calling my house just prior to 5 o'clock in the morning, can be found here: http://www.xomba.com/a_telemarketer_called_me_at_5_oclock_in_the_morning

***UPDATE***

The same company, albeit a different person, called me again in the afternoon. I told them that I wasn't there, and didn't know when I would be back (well, I made it sound like I was someone other then me, but I digress).

Under an hour later, they called back, so I told them it was me. And, Taprial, I'm truly sorry man, but I could NOT control my anger (ofcourse, I STILL hadn't slept!).

I didn't cuss, too much anyway, and I don't think I was too terribly mean, but I did go off. My voice was definitely raised, and I let the woman on the other end know that though I understood they wanted to "help" me (it's for some kind of free government grant help thingy), at this point they were merely making me quite hostile.

She proceeded to apologize for any inconvenience, and kept asking when she should call back! Are you kidding me? I'm yelling about how I may seriously need therapy after this telemarketing nightmare from Hell, and she's asking when she should call me back? More then once even?!?

So, I get her off the phone, telling her that I just don't know if I'll EVER be willing to talk to anyone from her company.

I kid you not, 45 minutes later, another woman calls me, from the same company, with the same pitch. At this point, the first words out of my mouth were, "You are F#@*ing KIDDING me, right?"

She seemed confused. I rail into her, about how I JUST calmed down from laying into one of her associates, and I was still P.O.ed about the guy who called from her company at 5 a.m.

She tells me that they don't open their office until 8. Great! Except that there's about a 3 hour time difference between where her office is, and where my home is. So, 8 a.m. her time would be... that's right... 5 a.m. my time!

After about 20 minutes of going back and forth with her, where she was arguing with me over how many times they had called that day, whether or not the guy who called this morning was from the same company, and so on, we finally agree to have me placed on their "Do Not Call" list! Ofcourse, at this point, I'm screaming atop my lungs, "I don't care if you're offering me a billion dollars, I don't want to talk to anyone who knows anyone who works at your company ever again!!!"

*Sigh*

I think the anger is out now. I'm pretty sure. It's not good to repress things, and I'm fairly certain that a day of screaming and wondering exactly what fresh Hell I managed to Twilight Zone myself into this is, has helped alleviate the feelings of raging angst.

It's days like this I'm thankful I don't work at the Post Office.

I believe it's illegal

I remember when the no-call registry came out, I read that it was illegal for telemarketers to call before a certain time (I think 9am). I also seem to remember that they could be reported for that.

Whenever I had to deal with them, I just used my "sexy voice" and said "You sound hot...What are you wearing?.." (regardless if it was a woman or a man)
