The 2008 home run derby contestants at Yankee Stadium
posted July 14, 2008 - 6:11pmThe 2008 Home Run Derby will take place tonight at Yankee Stadium in New York. The coverage will begin at 8pm eastern on ESPN. While some of the major stars of the game won't be participating, the lineup is still a very impressive one. This year's roster of names is full of young stars that are on the verge of stardom. Here are the lineups:
From the National League
Ryan Braun- 3B from MIL
Lance Berkman- OF from HOU
Chase Utley- 2B from PHI
Dan Uggla- 2B from FLA
From the American League
Justin Morneau- 1B from MIN
Grady Sizemore- OF from CLE
Evan Longoria- 3B from TAM
Josh Hamilton- OF fron TEX
Utley
I guess Lance Berkman would be seen as the veteran of this group, but even he is just 32 years of age. Longoria is the youngster of the bunch at just 22 years of age.
This will be a special Home Run Derby in that it is the final year of legendary Yankee Stadium and the fesitivities are being held there.
Who is the favorite to win? I think this might be one of the most wide open fields in history, but a lot of people are looking at Chase Utley as a potential winner. I think Utley has a great chance, but also think that Ryan Braun could be a decent darkhorse candidate. Enjoy the derby!
