The 2008 Mostly Mozart Festival at Lincoln Center

One sign of summer in New York is the annual Mostly Mozart Festival at Lincoln Center, and the 2008 edition is underway.

You can hear a live broadcast of the Festival's opening program today, July 30th, on the New York public radio station WNYC, 93.9 on the FM dial. The program will be Mozart's Symphony No. 40 and a chamber version of Mahler's "Das Lied von der Erde" (The Song of the Earth).

You can find more of WNYC's coverage of Mostly Mozart 2008 at WNYC's Mostly Mozart Web page.

You can find the full schedule of performances and events at the Lincoln Center Mostly Mozart Web page.

One program will be the American premiere of a piece about the sufferings of French mystic Simone Weil, who died protesting the Nazi occupation of Paris... a piece written by composer-in-residence Kaija Saariaho.
