the ageless packer gets another shot
posted January 18, 2008 - 6:38pmalright, i admit it. i was one of the voices brett favre heard at the end of last season telling him to hang up his cleats & call it a career & start working on his speech for canton. stand down & let a new generation of quarterbacks lead the
nfc into the new milennium... tony romo & eli manning & the like. & now he's only a game away from a rematch with the team against which he hit the peak of his career.
like the afc championship game, this is a week 2 rematch. then, favre & the packers picked apart the giants in an early road win that set the tone for green bay's season to come. this time around... the game shifts to lambeau. & mr manning? i don't think yer gonna like playing in lambeau this time of year. obviously, this isn't predicted to be as much of a blowout as the afc game. but green bay is going to be the general sentimental favourite (except among favre-haters) as much as new england. probably more than new england.
& it's gotta drive last year's nfc champion chicago bears nuts to see this. they beat green bay TWICE this year (of only 3 g-bay losses) & still didn't get a whiff of the playoffs.
