The American Dream-Walkers -- A Wiser Path Unfolding???
I was provided a little reality booster the other day, and wondered if others see the same...
Has anyone been observing the Indiginous People of America over the past 20 yrs. or so??? Talk about creating the ultimate of 'The Dream'!!!
Nations of original cultures, destroyed by our fore-parents in the infancy (and infantile) creating of their own "New World", have sprung back from the near-death remains of their clans that were sequestered into similar situations as concentration camps, and re-becoming...successful, well-educated, business savvy, and prospering once again.
As we experience the consequences of misguidance, and continuance of such in 'our own ways' today, these Peoples have retained their pioneer spirit, their focus on becoming grand entities of this land, and without vicious retaliation--in fact, reflecting generousity in leasing their lands and sharing their tax-free status with outsiders of their realms, are fast becoming wiser examples of living the dream that we, too, would like to experience within this country. They took a hopeless situation as the greatest challenge of their history and are re-creating of it.
The eye-opener came when I noted a young member of Yahoo Answers who was rather upset that we did not "finish our victory" over these tribes, but instead, gave them land and a tax-free life here...What are they teaching these kids in school??? Really got me thinking about a diverse cultural society, already here and co-existing long before our ancestors "discovered" this land mass, and the reasons and means of their being conquered by greed, misunderstanding & disrespect, religious righteousness, and power/control issues of leadership...sounding familiar to our own dismay???
This young member also proved, once again, that we continue to be conditioned to believe that a country running on taxes is 'normal', even though it hasn't worked effectively toward any positivity since Day One. Hmmm...
I would like to see the Indiginous People--Native Americans--rise to their own: exampling once again, a wiser way of living on these lands; opportuning us once again, to be part of their grander visions and ideals; reminding us once again, what "freedom" truly is about.
If you want to get to know a culture, read their newspapers...brain food that connects!!!
Good Journey!!! Miss E.
