Who is this guy Sanjaya Malakar you might ask. Or chances are you probably wouldn't ask that because most people in the country are probably familiar with this guy from watching American Idol.

If you have seen Sanjaya Malaker on American Idol, then you know one thing. He's just not that good. No, not a good singer at all.

If he's just not that good, how does Sanjaya manage to stay on the popular television show as a contender for that all-elusive and celebrity-making "American Idol" status. Put simply, who is voting for Mr. Malaker?

Recently there has been a (mostly online) movement to subvert the American Idol voting process and gather large groups of people to vote for the worst performer on the show. Last season, a website culled together a large group of like-minded people to keep the American Idol contender known lovingly as "Chicken Little" (for his close resemblance to the cartoon character) on the show. He managed to survive until late rounds of competition.

Is the same thing happening with Sanjaya Malakar? Well, most likely.

Does the blame rest on radio personality Howard Stern's encouragement to his audience to vote for Sanjaya as the worst American Idol contestant at www.votefortheworst.com (the popular website I referred to earlier)? Maybe that's part of it.

Or maybe America is just rooting for the classic kind-hearted underdog. Who knows? Well anyways, it is almost certain (okay definitely certain) that Sanjaya Malakara will not win the competition, but I guess the question is how much longer will he last?
