Male & female’s brain: where is the differences?
Gender plays an important role in learning styles and the differences are very evident in the ways in which boys and girls like to spend their time. Today there are many reasonable and measurable differences between the male and female brain.
In the first period of gestation (about the first 12 weeks) the brain is identical for female and male, but after this period the male brain receives more androgens. These hormones causes changing not only in the brain but in the pregnant mother too.
We can explain now, how very old people in Europe can say to pregnant women: you’ll become a boy or you’ll become a girl!
(When a woman will become a boy, she seems very beautiful, when a woman will become a girl, she seems ugly!)
The male brain has:
– a greater compartmentalisation. The male tendencies to use only one hemisphere and to have only one brain’s area at the time “online” and is more focused and logical.
- larger visual-spatial’s area. That explains why are boys better in football or in constructions, they can understand better structures (business, make money, maths, science).
– High testosterone’s level. That’s why boys are noisy, competitive and aggressive, more inclined to score than to cooperate. The male needs to test himself and wants to be the best!
– Low level of serotonin, that caused poor behavioural control, acting without thinking. They need short work-sections, focused in few main points.
– Low level of Dopamine, responsible for the less pleasurable states and the low concentration’s level. They hear not so well as female. They can listen better a male teacher than a female.
The female brain has:
- better connections. The female uses many areas simultaneously and can have a rounded view, can multitasks and overlap.
- Large linguistic processing’s area. Females can talk, write, read easier than males.
- Low testosterone’s level. This makes females cooperative, they have a limited number of relationships and are generally quieter. Female normally doesn’t like to be tested.
- High serotonin. Serotonin enables female to analyse calmly and rationally and to control her behaviour.
- High dopamine. Female can sustain attention longer and better.
Many schools have formulated “Equal Opportunity Policies”. Many boys are disadvantaged in the modern educational system then the most teachers ignores the different learning’s needs and ways. Why? The most teacher are women and they understand better female’s needs.
Female and male can compensate their brain’s abilities. They must just take note of the differences and try to work better together.
