The Breathtaking Beauty of The Swiss Alps
The Breathtaking Beauty of The Swiss Alps
Since I can remember, I've had a deep love and appreciation of the mountains -- a spiritual connection, I would describe it. Although I've never lived in a mountainous region, they have always been a source of mental regeneration for me whenever I return to them.
During my months in Switzerland over the past two years, I fell in love with the Alps. These pictures were taken in the eastern part of the country near the Rhine Valley. They are not the biggest peaks Switzerland has to offer, but size isn't everything. Mt. Säntis, elevation 2502 meters, offered a spectacular view of six countries. It was a brisk, cold late February day when the photo was taken.
If you're a lover of mountains like myself, I'm sure you'll enjoy these selections. They were taken with a fairly high quality digital cam with just 3.3 MP resolution. Enjoy!

Definitely on my list of places to visit in the future. I really loved Northern Exposure. :)

What a beautiful place on earth. I love the mountains and try to get to Mt. Hood as much as possible. I think I'm gonna live in the rural Swiss village below snow covered peaks and have a Heidi-lifestyle. Do you get to Switzerland often??
Peace,

Mt. Hood
I've heard that's a beautiful peak.
Unfortunately, I'll not make it over this year. I've been four times since early 2006.
The people are great, there. However, unless you really go for the rural life, you might want to reconsider relocating to that little village in the pic. :)
Whoa, awesome pic!
I'll get there one day for sure. :)
And Illinois?
How can you resist the Swiss and remain in Illinois? Just kidding, so not my business...just wanted to give you a hard time :)
Peace,
Mia NW

Well...
I love the mountains, but cornfields have a certain charm, also. :)
