The competition yellow and tire trouble spoils the Brickyard 400 fun

Yellow Flag
All day long the Brickyard 400 was spoiled by some horrible tire troubles. At the beginning of the race Nascar announced that it was going to be throwing competition yellow flags to check the tires until the tire wear started improving. There were two problems with this strategy. The first: several people couldn't even make it to the ten lap mark before their tires shredded down to the cords. The second: the tire wear never got better and the race was marred by constant cautions.
This certainly isn't want Nascar wanted for what is one of their two biggest races of the year. Top notch drivers like Matt Kenseth, Kurt Busch, Kevin Harvick, and Juan Pablo Montoya were all swallowed up by the tire problems.
In the end Jimmie Johnson held off Carl Edwards to win the Brickyard 400, which was slowed by 11 cautions. After the race many drivers said they had never seen anything like it. Many of them said that they apologized to the fans that the race was spoiled so much by the competition yellows, but that was the only thing Nascar could do to keep the drivers safe.
Jimmie Johnson won his second Brickyard 400 today, but don't be surprised if the main story of the day tommorrow is the competition yellow and the Goodyear tire troubles!
