The condor as wise as the man.
posted August 25, 2008 - 5:19pmOnce upon a time, in a city of Denmark surrounded by mountains, a young boy begun to dream about south America. He had already heard from the sailors who went to that continent that a bird as big as a house used to live in there. He started to imagine
him on the roof of his tatched cottage his wings wide open and his beak hooked like a pair of pliers. He didn't know exactly how he was, but now more than never before he wanted to travel the oceans and see him with his own eyes. He could have paid a lot of money to find himself in the next boat casting the anchor; he could accept being a coal during all the travel, well, he could have done anything to go there and see the condor in real.
One day his dream became reality, the young boy fled from the gray sky of Europe and when smoke went out from the boat cheminy top with a wonderful "tout" to start the adventure, he felt happy and confident. Month and month later, the tropical weather was at the rendez-vous and the boat came into a port and the young boy went out the stairs with his luggages; he was planning to settle here for the rest of his life.
A long journey brought him to Peru, the spirit of the Andes. He passed snowed mountains, deserts of rocks, and there was the condor, spotted with black and white, a splendid bird with a wide wingspan. The young boy admired him for hours, looking at him glide in the sky or flying from one rock to the other.
During the night, when the young boy felt asleep, the angel Gabriel came to him and told him:
-"Do you know young boy how wise is the condor?
The young boy who was asleep didn't react automatically, he was snoring and he didn't know that it was the angel Gabriel himself who came to him on that night.
-"Yes, young boy, you do right to leave Europe, all people over there are corrupted. In here there are only gentle savages who feed their souls from the traditions and the cults. You do right to choose the condor as the condor always hated the human being.
The young boy who was asleep heard these words and wanted to know why the condor, this such beautiful bird, always hated the human being.
-"He always hated him said the angel Gabriel because of his superiority. The condor always thought that he was superior to the human being. He used to kill him with his beak all the time he sees him.
-"And now said the young boy?
-"And now, look at the old condor going to hunt with his claws braced like fritters, he can't seize anything with his claws. He cannot take a young boy like you and bring him to his nest. So he became sympathical, harmless, and what he loves most is the human being, isn't he wise?
