The Ben Affleck Dollar?

The Ben Affleck Dollar?

I just read an article about Ben Affleck going to the Congo with Nightline to report on the war and hunger that has killed thousands. He has made a few trips there on his own and approached ABC about broadcasting his experiences as he travelled back to this war and hunger ravaged region of Africa.

Unfortunately, I did not get to see the segment which apparently aired on the 26th of June, as this was the first I had heard about it.

In the article there is a great quote from Ben:

"It's fairly clear that in the modern age that there is acurrency to celebrity or celebrity is a currency, really, I've discovered that you can spend it in a lot of ways, or you can squander it. You can be taxed as well. I really started thinking long and hard about how to use this currency as long as I had it"

Now, I'm not a huge Ben Affleck (the actor) fan, but this was probably one of the coolest statements coming out of hollywood lately. In a world full of celebrities like Britney and K-Fed, Paris Hilton and her BFF Nichole, it's refreshing to see someone (of the younger generation of stardom) using their "currency" wisely.

I have to admit that, although still not a huge fan of Affleck (the actor), I have to give kudos or "mad props" to Ben (the man).

Brangelina's Currency

Yes, I read your post about their baby pics about the same time I read the article about Ben Affleck. It's good to see some celebrities being responsible with their "currency" instead of: 1. Making total fools and spectacles out of themselves through embarrassing public displays or 2. Going off half-cocked and making political statements when they have no understanding of the underlying issues. FREE Domain Names - FREE Cell Phones with Great Plans

Nice!

I always appreciate it when I see someone is using their fame and/or fortune to help rather then hinder, and to stand up rather then stand out. Losing Weight and Feeling Great! A Day in the Life of a Pagan Parent The Funtabulous Stuff of the 80's
