The Dark Knight
posted July 26, 2008 - 3:06pmSo I just saw the new Batman movie, The Dark Knight, and it was good. It wasn't great, but it was good.
Now that would be me without a soul, and that's because that movie was incredible. I mean, really, that movie was amazing, and I wouldn't mind seeing it 2 or 3 or even 4 times. Now that's what makes a movie good.
First off, let's start with (the late) Heath Ledger. I gotta say, I new that his acting would be good, and I knew that he really put his all into this role, but I didn't know that he would deliver a performance to this magnitude. He really got into his character, gave it life, and never quit playing the mentally insane to the highest degree. There were scenes, like when he was describing his scars, where he was so convincing that i got a little spooked. He really gave a once in a lifetime performance. He made the Joker into what he should have been all these years, and made a new benchmark for criminals in movies, and Jokers-to-come. A true sinister being, an evil entity, The Joker is my all-time favorite villain (way before this movie) and is refreshed as the greatest criminal mastermind in movie history.
Everybody else was great too, especially Christian Bale. Bale and his British servant, Michael Caine, are a great on-screen duo.
The action was awesome, the score was awesome, the acting was awesome, Heath Ledger was more than words can describe, and i mean that with all seriousness, and the overall quality of the movie was awesome. I haven't loved a movie like this since The Departed, which was brilliant. I must shake the proverbial hand of director Christopher Nolan, who knows exactly what to do with the Batman franchise. He is among the select few who know just how dark Batman and his world really is, and how to portray that world on the screen.
Also, he knows how to make a truly amazing reincarnation of my favorite villain. I said it before, and ill say it again, I can't say enough good about this movie, and I can't say enough how much I loved the Joker. Every minute i wish i could be in front of the silver screen watching the truly disturbing face of my favorite clown terrorizing the city of Gotham.
WhY SO SEriOUs???
