The Day I Pay To See My Way
posted July 7, 2008 - 11:07amIn such a way
I’ve seen the day
When one can say
That man is just clay
For the light of one day.
Send me now I must pray
That time will hold us at bay
As more of them begin to bray
With great intelligence to defray
Expensive living and cause to pay
In the end when they all must weigh
Images not clear but in shades of gray
The light of Sol can never lead us astray
Only our own imaginations help us decay
As we see and acknowledge some real play
The brouhaha we create along with our dismay
Yet more not less than ever and anon, we not they
Are blameless but accuse the simple more they slay
To line their folds and crease their lines and try to sway
The ever-lasting alms received in blood like in child’s play
As we do nothing to protect the weak nor challenge who may
Have access to our gold, all our wives and children cannot delay
The ultimate receipt of our folly and how is it that we do not convey
Our message so urgent and so complete for all of them to read, today
That we will not shove it down the throats of all who laugh then run away
In games and jest while we cry for them in their lost little worlds of old cliché.
You tell me now, though I don’t ask where we can find the words in small essay
To bring them to their knees and hear them confess at breakfast in some local café.
