The Devolution of Celebrity Adoption

The Devolution of Celebrity Adoption

Mia Farrow set the standard for celebrities adopting babies thirty years ago, and may have coined the phrase: Adopt Early and Adopt Often. But don’t let your husband date any of them.
Sally Struthers pushed adopting without actually having to look after the kid. Just send money and somebody earnest will feed and clothe it for you. Guilt-free living without the mess and the hassle of driving to soccer practice.
Jerry Lewis also marketed the “No Commitment” adoption but he only had to put up with it once a year. I’m pretty sure none of Jerry’s Kids ever lived with him.
Currently, Madonna & Angelina Jolie are locked in an ego fueled battle to see who can adopt the most kids in the shortest period. Soon entire states will be devoted to housing the thousands of orphans these actresses purchased from Cambodia, Zimbabwe and Ecuador in an effort to one-up the other. I fear their natural children will be forced into looking after the new ones like some familial press gang.
Now Jessica Simpson says she want to adopt too. In what universe does the girl who thinks buffalos have wings get to raise a child?Jessica tries to remember the stork's email addressJessica tries to remember the stork's email address
Next step in the descent will be when Courtney Love announces (in a rambling, incoherent press conference full of expletives) that she is looking for someone to adopt, once she has all her blood replaced with some that is less than 50% alcohol.
And the Olsen twins are jointly adopting so that their combined weight will at least be more than the infant’s.
Maybe Courtney Love should adopt the Olsen Twins. It sounds like they could use a second childhood.
