The Effects of Global Warming

The Effects of Global Warming

Global Warming is the greatest threat of our time, greater even than the threat of a nuclear holocaust. Despite this, doubt lingers in many. Media coverage has left many people confused. Such ignorance should not be allowed to stand in the face of such a great threat. It is important that you educate yourself about what is really happening so that you can help avert this threat. Stand up and be counted.

Global warming is real and will cause:

  • rising sea levels
  • glacier retreat
  • Arctic shrinkage
  • altered patterns of agriculture
  • extreme weather events
  • an expansion of tropical diseases
  • changes in the timing of seasonal patterns in ecosystems
  • drastic economic impact

Time is rapidly running out for us to prevent or slow this from happening. Governments and big business are not acting fast enough or in our best interest. It is time to campaign louder or we will only be giving our children an Armageddon.

It is time for real discussion about how we can save our world.

Again, you missed the point.

Again, you missed the point. The people who were originally "fighting global warming" are doing so out of ignorance and stupidity, not envy of the wealthy. What I said was - and I think I made it quite clear - that the politicians have taken the environmentalist cause and used it to promote their own ideas for redistributing wealth, which appeals to the great masses who are not wealthy. Unfortunately for the poor, it's more about punishing productiveness, not "saving the planet" or lifting them out of poverty. One group advocates because of ignorance, the other because of envy. The politicians seize on the opportunity to punish all. Your incorrect inference is not my fault. I shouldn't have to explain remedial matters of politics and the actions of the governed every time I leave a comment. I thought you people were supposed to be educated and informed. More often than not, this isn't the case. But it won't matter anyway. Nothing I can say will awake you from your intellectual coma and make you try to employ reason. This is why we have the ingredient of ignorance perpetuating this imaginary "problem" in the first place. *If you're interested in reading my articles, Click Here.

The "Asinine" Question...

...was intended to point out how asinine is your assignment of base motives to informed people concerned about global warming. Contrary to your belief, not everyone involved in this issue is uninformed or working out of jealousy and envy or for other base reasons.

"So you're saying that

"So you're saying that people who are fighting global warming are doing so out of jealousy?" No, I'm saying that people who are "fighting global warming" are doing so out of ignorance and stupidity. The politicians who seize the opportunity to capitalize on it are simply appealing to the rest of the masses who live and feed off of envy. Look at the "solutions" to the "problem" and you will clearly understand the point. If you still don't get it, then I can't help you answer your asinine questions. *If you're interested in reading my articles, Click Here.

Global warming is all jealousy?

So you're saying that people who are fighting global warming are doing so out of jealousy?

I think the prosecutions will sweep you up, hiding like some of

those from Germany to be hunted down, depending on their part in the Third Reich. But Pub, you will have an epiphany. You will suddenly be "saved" by your "recognition" of the truth. It will be like a revelation. And if not, you can be educated in a facility. Are you worried about a frost on your citrus? I'd look farther ahead to their drowning. You think an ice age? No chance now. Not this swing. That might be a part of why James Hansen is looking from 350 down to 300. We have reached the point where we can keep ice ages away. But to leave what is in the air in the air is a killing thing. It kills us and life around us -- In doing that, it is criminal. Good to see you still interested in what is good for humanity. . .isn't it? Good to see you holding up your end here. Keep it up. . !

Another "parable" (I'll use

Another "parable" (I'll use your cat scenario): These two cats, Fred and Jack, were living in two different houses. Fred told Jack that his house had a hole in it, but Jack knows for a fact that there was no hole. Fred continued to tell Jack that there was indeed a hole. Then he told the rest of the neighborhood that there was a hole even though Jack had done several thorough searches of his own house and knew for a fact that no such hole existed. So Fred, being upset that Jack would not listen to his warnings, decided to call the local politicians and tell them that Jack's hole was causing a problem in the neighborhood, despite no evidence of a hole or any real neighborhood problems. The politicians, afraid that Fred and his community would not vote for them the next election cycle, decided to tell Jack that he needs to invest in a company that their friend owned which will retrieve all of the loose rats. Jack, knowing that the loose rats were not from his house and that he had no hole, refused to purchase the services of the rat retreival company - which did not fix the alleged problem in the first place...the hole. Fred and the politicians decided to force Jack to give up a percentage of his catnip every month to pay for rat retrieval in another community. The politicians then told Fred that he would receive some of the catnip from Jack for his hardships of living near a "rat polluter" - even though extra rats would benefit Fred and his cat friends greatly and that rats were already found throughout the neighborhood prior to the neighborhood's existence and long before the hole (that did not exist) was alleged to exist in Jack's house. After several years of this confiscation of Jack's catnip, with no reduction in the amount of rats in the neighborhood, the politicians decided to take the catnip kickback away from Fred and demand that Fred and his neighbors actually give up some of their catnip to other distant communities who do not have as much catnip to throw around. They also told Fred's community that they need to stop eating rats and start throwing the rats away instead. They were told that the remainder of their catnip every month - after the politicians had confiscated enough for the other communities - would be plenty to live on and that they should be grateful to have it. Then one day, Jack saw Fred and his family out in the back yard digging up to feed on what little grass remained. Jack called out to Fred, "Hey buddy. Do you still think I have a hole in my house?" To which Fred replied, "I never thought you did. I was just jealous that your house was bigger than mine and that you could afford to eat more rats than me." Then Jack said, "That's what happens when you're too worried about what everyone else has instead of striving to be your best and becoming a productive citizen. I tried to tell you that no problem existed, Fred. Now you have to deal with your own stupidity and try to convince the government that their new laws and bureaucracies are not necessary. Good luck with that, you dumbass." The End. *If you're interested in reading my articles, Click Here.

Parables will not save a species, None of them.

Be happy, don't worry? I liked it anyway. It does not apply, here. Malthus does, however. Man created the CO2 problem, and with BAU this is just as terminal as all out thermonuclear war. By killing everything that we eat and all those that eat them, rats and mice would be good. But we all live on plants -- and when these are gone -- we are gone. Cute Parable.

A Parable

Once upon a time there were two cats. Let’s call them Fred and Jack. They lived in an old deserted house that was filled with rats. The huge supply of rats kept them well fed. One day, Fred noticed that there was a small hole in a wall of the house. It wasn’t very big and it wasn’t very noticeable, but Fred saw that every so often a rat would squeeze into it and escape the house, running away and never being seen again. He worried that the hole might get bigger and more and more rats might escape. “Oh, you’re such a worrier,” Jack said, scooping up an available rat, popping it in his mouth and falling asleep. But Fred couldn’t help but worry. He saw the hole slowly getting bigger and more and more mice escaping. He knew he needed to plug the hole but he was a cat, not a carpenter, so how could he fix it? He tried everything he could think of –standing guard over the hole and scaring the rats away from it – but he couldn’t do that 24 hours a day, and Jack refused to help. He shoved an old piece of newspaper over it, but the rats soon ate through that, just as they were gnawing at the hole and making it bigger and bigger and more and more were escaping. And Jack still dismissed his friend’s worries. “Tosh!” Jack said scornfully. “Don’t be such an alarmist. You look like a fool.” Soon the hole was big enough for five or six rats to get out at a time. Many rats still chose to stay in the house, but many had also left. Fred this time tried chewing up bits of newspaper, making it pulpy, and tried plastering over the hole, but he couldn’t chew enough to cover the whole thing, and the rats soon ate through that as well. “Yeesh,” Jack said. “Chill, would you?” But Fred couldn’t chill. Day after day, he saw rats fleeing as the hole got bigger and bigger. There was an old deserted wardrobe near the hole; if Fred could knock it over on its side, it would cover the hole. He tried to get Jack’s help, but he refused. So Fred kept trying to push it over on his side. Day after day he pushed and pushed, but couldn’t get it to move. He tried taking a running start and jumping against it, which worked a little better but which still wasn’t good enough. Yet he kept on trying and one day he ran from so far and so fast and made such a fine leap that the wardrobe teetered and then fell on its side, blocking the hole. With their exit blocked, no more rats could leave. Within a few months, the rat population returned to normal. Looking out over the rooms filled with nice, tasty rats, Jack turned to Fred and said, “See what a worrywart you are? We have plenty of food, and you went and worried about that silly hole for no reason at all.”

"Such ignorance should not

"Such ignorance should not be allowed to stand in the face of such a great threat." This is exactly the problem. Ignorance is the threat. Too many people are far too ignorant to understand that the "threat" of global warming is not a threat at all. All one needs to do is open their eyes and look at the world and they will see that life continues to go on year after year, despite being told for several decades now that humans are making this planet uninhabitable - and continually being proven incorrect. But what happens if the warming stops? What happens if the warming reverses and cooling ensues? What happens if it is discovered in the next ten or twenty years that global warming was never a real danger? Who do we then call "ignorant" and the uneducated? What happens when the "consensus" is proven wrong, like they have been repeatedly proven in the past? If you get a chance, please read this series (there are four so far) and see if the advocates' arguments sound logical and rational: Climate Change Stupidity *If you're interested in reading my articles, Click Here.

James Hansen has some less vengeful ideas than I on climate

Nice short statement. I posted this series of links last night with a few comments. http://www.xomba.com/100_or_fight_no_alligator_shoes_carbon_tax_dividends_without_lobbyists I expect pubby will be commenting that it is all an alarmist conspiracy. That is why I favor environmental conspiracy laws to show and prosecute the linkages between things like publeeus cites and the cadre of fossil carbon sellers and producers -- who are criminally plundering the environment; extracting the millions of years-old fossil carbon legacy for short term profit as opposed to making the world a place with a future for life as we know it; damaging the atmosphere in such a manner as to lead to a 50,000 year (or more) elevated carbon dioxide layer that outlasts humanity. They are trading your life and your children's lives and future for short term personal profit dollars. I am not an Obama Fan or supporter; but if he is elected, and survives long enough to help enact and guide changes that will allow a new social structure order that eliminates or "changes" the banking and derivative skims and scams (which are the main source of funding for the carbon polluters), as well as placing social existence and all species existence ahead and above short term profits -- I might support him. No I am not a fan of McCain in any form -- though I respect his service during 'Nam. I do not think he should have survived his Keating Five involvement. I recommend www.realclimate.org and you do Not have to be a scientist to understand or enjoy what is transpiring at this site -- which is mainly about getting the truth of the Anthropocene era of Carbon poisoning in scientific perspective. I have remarked there that the science is in, and what is needed is a "www.real climate solutions.org" -- and that we do not have a lot of time. James Hansen's approach is "nicer" than mine. . . (He is not associated with realclimate.org except they all use his science. . . Realclimate also addresses AND demonstrates that the denialists and environmental conspiracy producers are in error by using the SCIENCE to debunk the purveyors of this CO2 poison. There are still similarities to the tobacco industries long denial of the danger of tobacco. (Production of cigarettes and American Tobacco Products and their export to the rest of the world should be banned. I smoked and quit , but the past may kill me early. . .because of this tobacco drug. Carbon emissions are a story different that is a posion for all life on Earth.) James Hansen has a very polite approach. I have many postings on Xomba related to climate -- but they can't compete with the fluff and nothings, and since nick dropped the reads, it is hard to even scale the effects of the information. You and I may not agree on much more -- but thanks for educating yourself and taking an interest in the future of the species. It may take luck. To survive. And we have been out of luck since . . .
