Janmashtami, the birth of Lord Krishna was celebrated with a lot of zeal in the streets where young boys and girls (Govindas) tried to break the Dahi Handis in true spirit and Tradition. See Photo below

The drums would have hardly stopped beating and the Ganesh Chaturthi festival was celebrated on the 15 Sep. The festival is celebrated for three/five/seven or nine days depending upon the family / locality decision culminating with the Ganesha's idol being led out in a large procession for immersion in the water.

This would be followed by the Navaratri , Dhanteras, Karva chauth, Dussehra, Diwali, Bhai Duj, Lakshmi Puja, Guru Nanak Jayanti and finally Christmas.
