The Fishing Season Has Landed

I love fishing, in fact this hobby of mine is one of the main reasons I live where live right now. At the time I live in a small town in arctic Norway. I moved up here to take a one year assignment as a substitute physical therapist, but what really made me make the decision to move here was the great opportunities for outdoor activities and fishing that this area offers. I love spending time outdoors and fishing has always been a hobby of mine. This particular part of Norway offers world class fishing with large variety of opportunities. You can do deep sea fishing, salmon fishing in one of the numerous salmon rivers, or trout fishing in one of the many mountain lakes. The great thing is, this can be done within the scope of one day without having to travel any significant distances.

The area where I used to live didn't offer to many opportunities when it comes to fishing, it had a few lakes where I used to go fishing for trout. The fish were there in great numbers but were usually small in size so I frequently went on fishing vacations to areas where I could catch some bigger fish, often driving for several hours to get to these locations. Now I have great fishing right at my doorstep and I'm extremely excited about it! Can't wait to get out there and try my luck. However, the reason I'm writing this is that I don't have much experience fishing for salmon in rivers and I was thinking someone here on Xomba might have some experience as well as useful tips and advice concerning this type of fishing. I'm thinking about equipment, wading, fly fishing, choice of flies/lures and other useful information. Alternatively just give me your best fishing story

I appreciate it!
