Sometimes when I hear all this hatred of certain people in government, or of certain groups of people who support them, I can't help but wonder what would happen if we became embroiled in a civil war. I mean a REAL civil war this time between the left wing and the right wing, both seeking absolute control of our government. I try to figure out who would win, and how they would do it.

Liberals are very largely anti-gun rights, so they would be mostly unarmed. One would assume they will not fight since they don't believe ANYTHING is worth fighting and dying for, especially their own country. But you have to consider that they have a large constituency of convicted felons. Add to that the support of Islamic extremists worldwide, and the right wing will be dealing with a formidable opponent. When the first casualties are reported, all the elitists who decided to fight would immediately lay down their butter knives. They would proceed to call the United Nations to negotiate a cease-fire, while leaving their fellow felons and extremists hanging out to dry. It would be a complete rout once the law-abiding challenged (I feel the need to be PC) realize they've been duped and all the anti-occupant forces (Muslim extremists) have blown themselves up. Ultimately, the people with the most to lose would be the last ones to stand up for what they believe in...but they will cut and run. The liberals would rely on the mainstream media to convince Americans that the right wing has actually lost and that they are committing war crimes and illegally occupying the country.

Or...

The gun-toting rednecks that make up the right wing will join up with corrupt, corporate CEO's and Wall Street investors to buy the world's most advanced weaponry. They will steal the resources of third-world nations and raise the price of gas to stifle the mobilization of the left wing militia. However, the rednecks are largely uneducated, middle-Americans that believe God will fight with THEM, thus they become careless and indifferent to their fellow militia-men. They end up shelling their Big Oil counterparts, but since they can't speak very good english, they are not able to communicate an apology (and position) to the warmonger CEO's who mistakenly annihilate them in an incident of friendly-fire. Without the poor working-class to fight for them, the corporate elites invoke a draft and send the remaining young Americans into a seemingly never-ending war, where they commit atrocities more often than George Bush lies. After several years of fighting, the global community starts to dislike what America stands for, and decides to join forces with the liberals. They bring in U.N. peacekeeping forces which fail miserably and eventually relinquish our once great country to foreign, communist dictators.

Now I realize there MAY be another outcome, but I'm pretty sure one of these two will happen. Then again, I could be wrong. After all, I am from "middle-America", so I'm pretty stupid, but I don't own a gun...yet. I'm not sure exactly where that leaves me.
