The Green, Green Grass
The Green, Green Grass
THE GREEN, GREEN GRASS
There is a moment in time that I remember well.
When Green was such a vibrant color, I can even remember that summer smell.
Green grass in the front yard with little white and yellow flowers.
We would run the neighborhood and play for endless hours.
Buzzing bees and butterflies were mysterious in those days.
I remember flying kites, and running in the grass.
I remember riding bikes and dirt clod fights.
Why did this time so quickly pass?
Seven or Eight is the time when life was truly great. I wish I could go visit then and stay awhile with my old, old friends. When under every rock and clover lay,
an adventure for at least the day.
I long for those feelings of summers long past. To see through the eyes of a child.
I hope I will always remember the green, green grass.
