The History of Henna and the Art of Mehndi
The History of Henna and the Art of Mehndi
I have used henna and done mehndi on my hands many times and I absolutely love the style and the effect. It's a temporary piece of body art that I find beautiful and exotic.
Henna is the crushed powder from a bush that is mixed carefully in to a paste. When it's applied to the skin in designs, it's called mehndi.
Although there are many traditional designs that can be used, it's fun to create your own designs also.
When I apply henna, it usually lasts three weeks with good color and then begins to fade slowly until it's gone at about four weeks.
This article mostly covers the history and the how-to, but you can google some unbelievable images of mehndi.
