The world passing by, pairing up
Rushing past without a thought
Each finding its other half
Without knowing what pain it’s wrought

Reaching out for a hand to hold
But no hand reaches in my direction
Dismissed, disregarded, left hollow
Denied, my heart lacks protection

Lost inside, covered in layers
Of doubt, of fear, of sorrow
Struggling not to suffocate
In a time of no tomorrow

What cannot be changed, or accepted
Strips hope away from bone
The world has gone and paired off
