Buying clothes and shoes for children: a big problem!
If you do not have the children there a bigger problem. A dress too big or too tight, but the same size, a shoe that is too long or too short, the same size: how do to establish sizes for children?
After several years of useless attempts, I drew the conclusion that every company has more or less its sizes, which do not correspond to those of others. It can be that the model of reference is different? It derives from the average type of customer they’ve in sight.
And this happens not only for children but also for adults.
Result is that I gave up from buying clothes that I have not tried on people who must wear.
Above all there is a huge difference if you start to go outside the country where you live: the grandmother in Italy never guesses the right size for my children in Germany.
It seems that there in Italy children are on average shorter than in Germany and then an Italian "10 years" corresponds to a "6 years" in Germany. And a German 126 is not the Italian 126 (maybe have another unit of measurement…). Even for adults, a person tall in Italy, is short in Germany, one in average in Germany is tall in Italy (and usually also fat).
I also found that some chain stores in the same country for example aim at reducing sizes for the female fashion: I have not yet understood if they want to save on material or encourage anorexia.
The first and last time I visited a shop of this kind has caused in me a depression that lasted (just for luck, a store more in there) until I was in another store, where I was able to buy a dress that I liked without feeling "Fat and deformed" (I believe to be fit!). In the first shop, mirrors also had an fat-effect!
After I’ve noticed that in the "fat-effect" store there were around only girls between 16 and 20 y.
Of course, not for me over 30!
But I think, however it is shameful to use mirrors and measures to damage the psyche of young girls that care for some things certainly more than me.
Almost everywhere there are labels with the different sizes of European countries, but at the end …Always it results from how you interpret the numbers!
Shoes are another problem: time ago I’ve read a survey on how some companies deliberately modified shoe sizes to increase the turnover. If you buy shoes looking at the numbers, sooner or later will tight and you’ll need to buy new!
Try what you want to buy and… Do not trust the numbers.
