The Poetics of Worry
posted August 17, 2006 - 9:55amA mind is restless.
Awash with uncertainty.
Was iron left on?
((He/she) loves me)/(he/she) loves me not)
Please God help me hang on to
All the things I (have/have not) got
The shinier cars I want to drive/ The waist
I want to reduce a size
All the nothings I want to personalise/ Put my (
And make that nothing just like me
(A silicone mystery who holds more value as a puzzle than as a solution?)
Deliver me from merit/blame
Judgement from the cat I (may have) forgotten to feed?
Deliver instead my ordered males
Satisfy my lust/want/need
(Remind me how hip it is to Freudian slip,
Upon the ice rink doubling as the world’s stage
(Comfort me with the reminder that no one else takes notice, of how I struggle with the ordinary pressures of comfortable, everyday living. Comfort me with the reassurance that I am not to face judgement by my peers.
(Comfort me? So tell me one more time about how no one gives a damn
About me?)))
Deliver me from uncertainT.N.Teasing indecision, spiraling and expanding till my entire consciousness is enveloped in it’s sticky, toxic web
(1/0
>truth = (The universe is a lie))
Are they laughing behind my back?/ I just want to walk away
The door is padlocked, reinforced/ I am safe inside my cage
I live within a novel of no more> than one page
My metaphysical shopping list:
Cocoa Pops, (He won’t/doesn’t eat anything else)
Sea Cabbage, (The family all hate it, but it’s good for their health)
Orange Juice, (Since there’s flu on the loose)
Pringles, Original flavour, (No point taking unnecessary risks for the simple sake of an interesting crisp)
A googleplex rolls of toilet paper (Quite enough to last forever)
And a box of Barrat’s Winegums (A single source of guilty pleasure)
Solve all your problems.
By writing them down! Hurrah!
For trouble free life
