With Russia quick response to defend Ossetia, and Russia’s continuing movement into Georgia, Russia is setting itself up regain some of its former territory closer to the Middle East and Iran. The United States has great influence in the Middle East, for good and/or bad. The U.S. and Israel have been rattling sabers at Iran over its nuclear development, sold to them by the Russians. Russia sees that is has every benefit to attack Georgia. They regain lost territory and establish themselves closer to Iran and the Middle East. This also many have been a preemptive attack to keep the United States from using Georgian airspace to attack Iran. Russia was waiting for Georgia to make a political blunder and attack Ossetia. Just look at how fast Russia mobilized and defended Ossetia. Russia knew it was coming and was waiting.

President George Bush’s statement to Vladamir Putin to stop attacking a sovereign nation does sound very hypocritical, since we have attacked other countries most recently Iraq. The world will listen to Putin statements about The U.S. being hypocritical, some of allies may not agree with their minds, but they certainly will agree with their hearts. Our antagonists in the Middle East will surely take up this sentiment. Bush may want to come up with a different political approach to Russia’s war in Georgia. George Bush’s statements to Vladimir Putin had every ring of hypocrisy in it. This type of political stance will backfire on Bush. Russia has got us on the run on this one; they have maneuvered very well politically. For the U.S., Sometimes a wise person knows when to cut their loses, but sometimes a wiser person comes up with a very good plan to use others actions to gain political clout or influence in the world, just as the Russian are doing to us now.

Should we leave an ally behind? No way. But, should we start another cold war or start world war three with Russia? God forbid, that is not acceptable either. Georgia politically blundered, and they are paying the price, a severe price at that. Yet, let us not follow in their steps and do the same thing. For small wars like these can easily turn into major world wars.
Let’s keep Bush and the next President in our prayers, they need it.

The clock is ticking.
God help us all.

There may be something else afoot in Georgia

I won't get to my article until the morning, but there are a couple of things to consider beyond the oil pipeline. One, the CIA backed Mikhail Saakashvilli during the Rose Revolution in 2003 bringing him to power and ultimately the Georgian presidency. The other is the fact that the United States committed 1000 troops to a joint U.S.-Georgian military exercise, "Immediate Response 2008, which had just concluded.

While the mainstream media has been falling over itself to condemn the Russians and paint the Georgians as hapless victims, the facts tell a quite different story. This is a proxy fight between Russia and the U.S. for regional supremacy.
