The Reality of Today's Eat Right Programs
posted May 1, 2008 - 12:42amIt's nothing new to many people in the world about the mechanics behind those "Lose weight eating the meals we provide" gimmicks; but while many of these programs cater to different approaches, many do work. The reality is that you can do it yourself without such programs.
When you here about someone losing weight from eating special meals, it could very well be true; however there are simple points to it and hidden points as well. To start, much of the meals provided are balanced in the nutrition value based on who you are (man, women, etc.), also eliminating the need for many other foods in between being that they will throw off your pattern. That's all they are though; balanced meals. Meals that could easily be obtained on your own. No delivery. No signing up for a program. In simple terms, eating right.
When it comes to eating, balancing your carbs and protein intake is half the battle to losing weight as well as gaining. An ideal setup could be something as simple as eating a good breakfast consisting of a strong protein intake to start the day. Other than that, a healthy plate of food to start you off could consist of grilled chicken and brown rice. Portioned right, that covers a good requirement of carbs and protein your body would need. While that's not all, there are more "no's" than "yes's" to this concept to help you single them out. No white rice or white bread as the nutrients that are beneficial are gone from these. Snacks should be light. Following the saying for an apple a day is as far as you should go because fruit has a lot of sugar. With that said juice is knocked out of the "yes" category for the same reason. Coffee and soda are in the same boat. Truthfully, you should basically drink water. These are only a few examples and taking out some of those "no's" can help you drastically. There are plenty of foods we like that can help you lose weight when paired properly throughout your days and weeks.
The catch to any of the programs out there and the examples above is that you should and must exercise. Engaging in some kind of event that gets the blood flowing is what makes the food you eat truly go to work; helping your body to use it for energy instead of storage. While eating right is a big start, staying active is just as important, if not more, for many people. Walking, Running, or even just doing some push-ups or sit-ups are a great start.
What makes it hard to follow such examples is that they are patterns. People in this day and age run on change and trend. Repetition just doesn't factor in so much as it could for many people's routines in life. Staying focused and setting goals for yourself are the only way to step up.
Many of the programs out there work; the catch being you have to stick with them and give a little effort upon yourself to be active. Routine doesn't stay that way forever though; so many people stop. With that in mind, you gain nothing. In the end though, you have many options besides those programs that you can change around endlessly and customize for your needs. With a little research you can find great combinations of healthy, regular foods to combine and help you regulate your body.
