The Shins

The indie rock band The Shins had humble beginnings in Albuquerque, New Mexico but gained popularity through word of mouth and a major boost from the movie "Garden State." The film not only used several of The Shins' songs, but Natalie Portman actually tells Zach Braff's character that listening to them will change his life, or something to that effect.

The Shins are now based in Portland, Oregon and Seattle and record for Sub Pop records. Their latest album is "Wincing the Night Away," which features the single "Phantom Limb." Earlier singles by The Shins include "New Slang," "Nature Bears a Vacuum," and "The Past and Pending."
