The Super Bowl is here....and we all know what that means...
posted February 4, 2007 - 1:57pmIt means a lopsided game over in the first half, a lackluster halftime show, and very clever commercials.
I'm only partly kidding. The game could be a good one, the halftime show might be okay, and the commercials will definitely be entertaining.
It just strikes me as amazing that 30 seconds of commercial airtime can be sold for $2.6 million. For a company shelling out that kind of dough, the commercial better be memorable.
The super bowl is an opportunity for people to get together with friends in front of an enormous TV screen, over-eat, drink copious amounts of alcohol, and yell at referees that will never hear them or care about what they think about a call, all while being held captive by companies shelling out tons of money to try to hawk corn chips and car insurance to them (us).
It's just so darn American...I get a warm and fuzzy feeling when I think about it.
