The Tomb of Jesus Discovered? A Message to Christians
posted February 27, 2007 - 5:53pmIn light of the recent buzz surrounding James Cameron's upcoming documentary on the alleged tomb of Jesus, we must be prepared to deal with the questions and comments that will inevitably come our way from unbelieving friends, relatives and co-workers. I don't intend to give any validity to Cameron's documentary by attempting to refute, point by point, any "facts" that Cameron may have attached to his latest project. But I do want to bring up a couple of things. First and foremost, as born again believers sealed by the Holy Spirit, we know that whatever it is that Cameron is claiming to be the tomb of Jesus, is not the tomb of Jesus. The Spirit of God testifies to this. We know that the Bible is in fact the inerrant word of God, and that it has been under attack for hundreds of years. This "discovery" is just one among the countless attempts before it to discredit the Bible and the diety of Jesus, and most certainly will not be the last.
I am convinced that during the reign of the antichrist, the antichrist will be able to produce the remains of Jesus and will convince the entire population of the planet that Jesus never rose from the dead. I am also convinced that the world will always find excuses to deny the Gospel of Jesus Christ, no matter how ridiculous the reason. We've heard it all before. Christians are hypocrites, the Bible has contradictions, nothing new. The truth is, the main reason people do not want to believe in Jesus is because they don't want to accept the fact that they are accountable to someone higher than themselves and would ultimately answer to that someone. If Jesus is who the Bible says He is, and if the Bible is indeed the word of the Creator of this universe, then that means that there is an absolute right and an absolute wrong. That means it is possible to be in sin. That means sexual relations outside of marriage between a man and a woman, is wrong. That means lying to get financially ahead is wrong. That means "living it up" through alcohol and drug abuse is wrong. That means there is a judgment; a heaven and a hell. People are not comfortable with that. Now on the other hand, if Jesus did not rise from the dead or if the Bible is full of errors, then people can just go on doing their own thing, be their own god and just eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow they die. Isn't that the real issue? All this talk about Christianity being "intolerant" is going around when the complete opposite is true. It is the Christians that are constantly under attack, always depicted as outcasts, the subject of ridicule, and continue to be martyred today in various countries for their faith. Could you imagine how the media would react if a Christian organization were to put together a documentary about the fallacies of Islam and how the prophet Mohammed lived an immoral life that is contradictory to the teachings of the Quran, to be shown on national TV? There will be a massive outrage from the general public, including non-Muslims. What ever happened to tolerance? I guess my main point out of all this that as followers of Jesus, the world hates us, just as Jesus Himself said in the Bible. He said that just as the world hated Him, the world will hate us also. Authentic, uncompromised, Biblical Christianity will NEVER be popular in the world, and as Christians we all know that it is not our goal to achieve global domination. We are just pilgrims in this world and we should all rejoice because along with the developments in the Middle East to pressure Israel into giving up more of their land, this deceptive documentary that Cameron has put together is also a sign of the times, and our Lord's return is sooner than it has ever been! Pray for your unsaved friends, relatives and even enemies, that they might be able to escape the judgment that is to come.
