How do you tell when a politician is lying to you?...

Aside from the fact that his/her lips are moving, it can be difficult. If you ever meet one face to face, this person will look you in the eye, smile shake your hand and be your best bud. As soon as you hear his/her voice, you might just as well assume that a lie is forthcoming.
If the politician tells you exactly what you want to hear and promises the things that would make the world perfect…he/she is lying.
If he says that he/she isn’t in it for the money, and that he will “tax the wealthy and cut taxes for the poor and middle class - lying.
If said politician indicates that he/she will put more funds into the education system in your country, while his/her children are schooling in another country…chances are, it’s a lie.
If there are promises made in regards to better health care options, regulated HMO’s and things of that sort, very likely a lie.
When a politician acts as if he/she cares about the small towns or shows concern for the “little guy” - you guessed it…it is a lie.
If he/she promises to put money into your community they just might but it is likely to go to a ‘lesser’ politician in your town that will “distribute” it “fairly” amongst all of the other politicians nearby…they will decide who gets what is left over…just patches on the potholes, not new pavement.

The trick of voting is not to decide whether or not the politicians are telling the truth, but which one is lying the least. As they go from town to town kissing hands and shaking babies… each one choosing a different ideal platform, speaking, promising and lying - remember, it is your task to choose the lesser of the evils. As they read their expensive, speeches that you may end up paying for with your tax dollars, most of those words were written by somebody else, and are well spoken by somebody who only has their own interests at heart. If you don’t vote, it is hard to justify any complaint you may have about who gets elected…when you do vote, no matter who gets in, they all want to rule your world and your money.
