The wrong Wright for Obama

The wrong Wright for Obama

One has to wonder if Senator Obama’s Pastor of twenty years really supports the Obama ticket. I have not seen any effort on his part to naturalize or at the least minimize the impact of his disgusting commits of this great nation where he lives.

Couple that with the Senator’s color, his Muslim indoctrination as a child, his wife’s commits about this nation, his inexperience as a leader and we can see that the Senator is going to have a rough time re-gaining the confidence of the American People.

We know from the Senator’s own words that he admires Reverend Wright and has even indicated that the Reverend is his spiritual guide and role model. Moreover, for a man to seek the advise, counsel, and guidance of another is to strongly indicate his approval and acceptance of that person’s beliefs and values. Particularly when this relationship spans a period of time that exceeds 20 years.

In spite of the Reverend’s beliefs, Senator Obama asked him time and time again to be a part of the most important events of his life; his wedding, baptized his two daughters, and his guide for over 20 years.

Does this mean that the Reverend Wright will be the one to swear in President Obama?? Will the Reverend Wright be the new Billy Graham to the White House?? Stay tuned for further drama!!!

Which is all the more telling...

Dubya's admission that his decision was already made by Billy Graham is all the more telling because he is on record saying that "God told him to invade Iraq." Whatever Wright's rhetoric tells us about Wright, we haven't lost nearly 4000 (just those the Pentagon admitted) troops and tens of thousands of maimed and permanently disabled servicemembers in addition to close to a million dead or dying Iraqis because of something Wright or Obama said. George W. Bush

Here's Bush's quote on Billy Graham: "Actually, the seeds of my decision had been planted the year before, by the Reverend Billy Graham." He credits Billy Graham for being his spiritual guide and making him a born-again Christian. I'm only bringing this up to point out the hypocrisy of the outcry over Rev Wright.

Guilt by Association--if your politics aren't acceptable

The difference between Wright's words and Obama's association with Wright is that their brand of politics isn't exactly, well, kosher. Obama's childhood background in Indonesia doesn't help his case either. The Religious Right marches in lockstep with the Lobby and will always get the benefit of the doubt, which explains why Dubya and his father were not taken to task for comments made by Pat Robertson et al. In Dubya's tenure as president, the Religious Right has shown a blind allegiance to the Lobby because many of the evangelical leadership (on down to their flock) see the situation in the Middle East as some sort of Biblical prophecy and are easily manipulated by Israel as a result. I find this personally troublesome because while those evangelicals are waiting for the Rapture and their ticket out of here, they are shirking their responsibilities as Americans and citizens of the world, which means that no one is paying attention to what is really happening over there. I would even go as far as to say that they WANT an nuclear exchange over this because they welcome death for everybody in the world. As macabre as that sounds, I sincerely believe many of them don't have any fight left in them to fix the problems that we all face while they are small enough to fix. DO YOU HAVE THE WRITE STUFF?

Yes Billy Graham did make

Yes Billy Graham did make such commits. But and this is a BIG but, no one in the White House or running for the White House ever said “Billy Graham has been my spiritual guide for over 20 years“. Nor did Billy Graham ever officiate at a wedding or baptism for any public official that I know of. Further more, as for Obama answering for Wright or being painted with the same brush, it’s true he did not speak the words. However, the nut does not fall far from the tree. Students attending SMU, ACU, Rice University etc are for the most part conservative, those attending UTA, St Mary’s etc are for the most part liberal. What I am saying is that if you walk in the gutter, you are bound to get some on you.

Billy Graham

Billy Graham has made comments that are equally controversial compared to those that Rev. Wright has made. In 1993 he made the following statement about aids: "Is AIDS a judgment of God? I could not say for sure, but I think so." In 2002 the US government released some of Richard Nixon's tapes on which Graham made various remarks about Jews such as "They don't know how I really feel about what they're doing to this country" and he said that the Jews had a stranglehold on the US media "This stranglehold has got to be broken or the country's going down the drain". No one ever questioned George W. Bush for invoking Billy Graham, Jerry Falwell or Pat Robertson and we all know what the later two said about 9/11.

That might be an overstatement

While Wright has made a number of comments that I find questionable, it is not fair to expect Obama to answer for them. After all, it is Wright and not Obama who said them. That would be like you or me being taking to task for something one of our schoolteachers had to say. I am not going to vote for any of the McHilbamas and will be voting, instead, for Ron Paul. I don't buy into Obama's message of hope or promises of change, especially because I have been following politics for a long time now. I know what change really looks like and only Dr. Paul has the wherewithal to guarantee making it. DO YOU HAVE THE WRITE STUFF?
