The Yellow Box to the Right
Whenever I have written a Xombyte or a Xomblurb there has always been this yellow-box to the right after I have posted.
Once, but, only once, I clicked on the plus-sign (+) underneath the zero (0) in the yellow-box, and it changed to one (1).
When I did the one-time click I got worried because of the Xomba-rule about NOT clicking on your own work. I had actually, in my mind, clicked on my own work. I looked for days in My Inbox for a warning or something.
I was glad no one got mad, and I never clicked it again.
But, I kept wondering, in my first days, here, why would Xomba even have the plus-sign (+) activated, right in front of me, if I wasn't suppose to use it?
My, first conclusion about the plus-sign (+) was; it was there, as, a test-of-honesty, by Xomba. If I did not click on it, it showed I was being honest, and not clicking on my own work.
Silly, as, I can assume things, at, times, I came to the conclusion the yellow-box was where Xomba Headquarters rated each posting, and the number designated the quality of the posting, and the reason the number went up, once in awhile, was because the posting had gained readership. I, no longer wondered about the plus-sign (+), I just knew I should never touch it.
Nothing, could have been further from the truth!!!
Very early, yesterday, May 17, 2008, I was reading a piece about Craftsman 103-23070 Wood Lathe, by Free Cracker 4 Jack,

and, in the process of getting to the article was mention of the "yellow-box" that was to the right of the posting, and the mention of being able to vote-for-someone's article by clicking the plus-sign.
I, was dazzled! Everything, I thought, and, silly, as, it may be, assumed, was all wrong about the yellow-box!
The yellow-box, to the right, displays the number of votes it has received by other Xomba members, and the plus-sign (+) is where you can click-to-vote, if you like the piece.
I didn't even know we could vote on others' articles. That's really cool.
I wrote this because there may be other members, like me, (maybe not), who have been confused about the yellow-box.
Anyway, now, I can vote!

I was a little bit confused too, between the 1 point for xomblurbs and 1 point in the yellow box. I found out yesterday, the points for xomblurbs are for the contest! And then... I wonder, that many very new xombytes are directly with 1 point!:-) But, as beginner, it is not really clear.

There is nothing wrong with giving yourself a +1, it isn't against the rules and it is not frowned upon by the Mgmt. So don't be so hard on yourself :)
Well, Thanks! I gave myself a plus-one on this because
when I reread it I make note to myself about some of the stupidest assumptions my little mind comes up with. And, this piece reminds me to research, rather than be lazy, and just assume.
