There Are No US Warships Named Barack Obama (BUT There Are Two Named USS John S. McCain)

Barack Obama may be perplexed to learn that there are two US warships named USS John S. McCain. USS John S. McCain (DDG-56) is an Arleigh Burke class destroyer that was commissioned in 1994 and is homeported at Yokosuka Naval Base in Japan. The ship is named after John S. McCain, Jr., and John S. McCain Sr., both Admirals in the United States Navy and the father and grandfather of Senator John S. McCain III. The first USS John S. McCain was commissioned as a destroyer-leader in 1953 and later converted to a destroyer. She was named solely for the elder McCain.

Senator John McCain III verifiably comes from a very patriotic family lineage and he himself is undoubtedly one of America's most well known and respected living war heros. Also, war heroes have in the past made excellent choices for leaders of countries in uncertain times. Even so, the World, now more than ever, is in need of thoughtful and less pugilistic leaders. There Is A City In Japan Named "Obama"

There is a city in Japan named Obama. According to Wikipedia, Obama is due north of Kyoto and Nara and is about four to five hours by train from Tokyo. As of October 1, 2005, the city had an estimated population of 32,185. Also, according to Wikipedia, there are a number of Japanese with the surname Obama, meaning “small beach” in Japanese.

If we do need a less

If we do need a less "pugilistic" leader, as you note, then the choice is clear, and that may be why he's leading in many (or most) of the polls. A couple of Barack Obama's strengths are his intellect and his ability to unite--elements that the smooth and disciplined running of his campaign attest to. The world will be a safer, more peaceful place if he wins. Not to mention that fact that he has a better grasp on economic issues that McCain, which is a definite necessity at this point in time. Sure, McCain comes from a famous military family, but that is also a reason why he is in the position he is. He had a powerful network he was plugged into the day he was born--the definition of an "insider." He has consistently billed himself as a maverick, but has also gone with Bush well over 80% of the time. http://www.rollingstone.com/news/coverstory/make_believe_maverick_the_real_john_mccain These are my own opinions and I totally respect yours. America is truly an amazing place and I feel lucky to be a citizen.

Does McCain's dad or granddad have a statue in Hanoi?

If we are playing the stuff-named-after-us-determines-our-greatness game, then what does John Sidney McCain III having a statue erected in his honor in Hanoi, Vietnam say about his service to his country? There are no other statues erected to US government or military people in Hanoi. Why McCain? What did he do for the people of Communist North Vietnam that warranted such special attention? So McCain's dad was president? Grandfather?

Talk about reaching. John McCain III had zero executive experience, since the only non-military/House/Senate job he had was a short stint working in his father-in-law's company. He never ran anything in the military above a flight of a few aircraft in flight and he graduated near the bottom of his class at Annapolis. His place at graduation should tell you all you need to know about how far that apple fell from the McCain tree. On top of that, he crashed five Navy aircraft and is believed to be the cause of a major aircraft carrier fire that claimed the lives of dozens of his shipmates. I don't know what experience you believe McCain III has as a result of his life so far, but I can show you lots of reasons why his life to this point should give us pause, particularly his health and age. Don't even get me started on his choice of vice president. JOIN XOMBA IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO ADD!

Like father like son

These are the times when we need a strong, proven and reliable leader that has spent many years serving the country. Experience cannot be improvised nor the Presidency comes with on the job training. To read my posts and articles click here: http://www.xomba.com/xombyte/lmorovan

Spooky logic

I guess it's the appropriate time for it. :) ↑ Grab this Headline Animator

What does that have to do with anything?

What you posted about the ships may get me to vote for either McCain Senior or Junior, but it doesn't explain why I should vote for McCain III. Not at all. Perhaps someone could say that there is an Mount Obama in Kenya named after Barack's dad. Does that make him a better candidate? Pull your arms back in. You're reaching!
