these books are banned from schools
posted September 8, 2006 - 12:20pmthe practice of burning books is very emotional to me since I have a degree in library science. I'm not sure I could make it through a book burning .
Although many of these books were banned for valid reasons, it is important to realize that they are still a part of history. Instead of Banning them completely maybe they should be stored in a restricted section of the library. After an explanation of why a book was banned or questioned, patrons should be allowed to read the book in the library, or borrow it for a limited period of time.
It is interesting to note that many of these books were on required reading lists not so many years ago.
