Think "Roots," but Gayer

Think "Roots," but Gayer
I got sick reading this "Christian" review of I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry ...

Shadyac is one of the producers of the hugely popular-and hugely crass-comedy, I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, which concerns two straight men pretending to be gay so they can get "married" and illegally obtain full insurance benefits. Shadyac and co-producer Adam Sandler (one of the film's stars) reportedly went out of their way to seek the "gay stamp of approval," screening the film for gay activists and even casting two gay celebrities, Lance Bass and Richard Chamberlain, in cameo appearances.

Our critic slammed the movie two weeks ago (zero stars!), partly because it wasn't all that funny or well-made, but also because it was incredibly crude and, ultimately, hypocritical--it resorted to stereotypical gay-bashing for its "humor" early in the film

You remember ROOTS, yeah? Since that film featured slave-owners in the beginning, that entire movie must've been an 'insult' to the African-American gene-sequence!

In short, don't be assuming that all movies (especially comedies) have to 'have serious implications.' I agree with the 'zero stars' for the apparently-unrefined effort of the movie, but "the movie" is just ... there ...
