Thinking About Motherhood?

Thinking About Motherhood?

Are you going to give birth soon? Maybe you are just considering bringing a beautiful boy or girl into the world. Either way there are many things you should think about when it comes to your finances because I am sure you want your baby to have all that he or she desires. So I am going to share with you a few money saving tips to help you prepare for your baby’s arrival.

The number one thing you would want to do is have a vision for your family’s future. You already know you’ll have all the love to give to your baby when he or she arrives but whether your baby is just a thought, has arrived or you’re in the baby making process it is always a good idea to prepare for your family’s future financially. A good way to begin is to reduce any existing debt and you can do this by consolidating your debts. Make your entire debts one low monthly bill so that you won’t have to pay several high interest payments.

Next, when you are spending money note that you are thinking of necessities and not luxuries. You want to spend money on things that you have to and when it comes to your baby I am sure you’ll get plenty of help from family and friends. You can even browse online classifieds to find goods for your baby like toys and other items that may be entertaining for your baby. Also, saving for education should be on the top of your list.

You might want to consider investing in opening an online savings account rather than a traditional bank account. The online savings account is a high interest account with lower fees. Do you have your retirement plan secured?

If not secure your retirement by putting it in one place to keep you from paying several account fees for multiple accounts. Although, your baby growing up and leaving for college might seem many years ahead you need to know that when that day comes you will have no worries because you would have secured your retirement. Also, make sure you have a retirement plan with low fees and one that will leave you with a nice cushion.

Now, health insurance is a “top of the list” priority. Usually there is a twelve month wait before any insurance company will cover maternity expenses. So consider private health coverage in advance check the policy and make sure that all of your maternity expenses will be covered. If the insurance you have will not cover the expenses you will need to shop around to find insurance that will cover those expenses in particular.

Babies are not only a joy to have but there is a great responsibility. You want the best for your baby and everything in between and in order to provide that you will need to be prepared. Enjoy motherhood and all that is apart of it.

Actually, a recent issue of

Actually, a recent issue of Parents pointed out that it's better to worry about retirement savings first and not worry so much about the educational savings (they're nice, but not a necessity). There are scholarships and grants every where now, and any student can get a Stafford loan, which has ridiculously low interest and a very forgiving pay off time period (10 years). Retirement security isn't nearly as easy to obtain as college money is. Online savings accounts are bad as well, as they count towards your total assets. There is a special type of college savings account you can get that does not count towards your total assets, and the best part about it is you can set it up so your kid only gets the money if they go to college. Health insurance is not an issue. If someone can't afford it, there's Medicaid. If someone can just barely afford it there's medically needy Medicaid which has a share of cost. I also detect a bit of disgust in this entry, like the reader is someone who can't afford a baby. Am I wrong on this? Either way, please do better research before posting advice like this. People can get in it deep by doing things like setting up college savings in regular savings accounts (you do have to pay taxes on that you know...).

Firstly, please let me apologise for my first reply, it was written "tongue in cheek". I just thought it might bring a few people into the discussion. Motherhood is a very special experience, I do know. Sorry www.psychicpaws.com http://sorchajack-dogs-dontwejustlovethem.com/

You're right....

and I love my dog. And he loves me, I guess; he doesn't tell me, unless that's what wagging his tail means. But, he'll never give me a hug and tell me he loves me. He'll never ask me for advice, he'll never laugh, he'll never fall in love with another, he'll never experience all the joys of life that people get to experience, and I could go on and on. There are many joys in being a parent. But to each his own. More power to ya!

The best way to save money is to not have any children in the first place. I have found that it is much cheaper to have animals to live with me, than it is to have kids. My animals dont need new shoes, or new clothes. They dont need the latest trainers or pc games. They never ask me for money, and they never backchat me. They never say "it's not fair all of my friends are allowed'. They never want to borrow the car and do not want to be picked up after a night on the town. Animals rule............ www.psychicpaws.com http://sorchajack-dogs-dontwejustlovethem.blogspot.com/
