Third Shift Stinks Even When Working From Home

Third Shift Stinks Even When Working From Home

I have a pretty good job that certainly has its positives.  However, one of the negatives is that I sometimes have to be on-call.  On-call is basically a synonym for working nights in my business.  I work for a telecommunications company, so any work that may affect telephone service must be done at night to minimize service disruption.  Tonight, the work I have been scheduled to do is very easy, only requiring me to monitor equipment remotely while software updates occur.  Even working from home, this really stinks.  I could be checking the back of my eyelids right now living in a dream.  Instead I am downing coffee to try and stay awake and yet again proving that there is absolutely nothing on television during the middle of the night.  The one positive about tonight is that I do get paid a little extra to work at night, and since I am working from home, I am also saving money on gas.  TO summarize, working from home is great, but I do not like this third shift business.
