This can't be real! Wake me up!

This can't be real! Wake me up!

This can't be real! When I opened my computer today, I was in for a surprise. I received an email from an editor of an online magazine who wanted to publish my "Muslimah living in NYC" article! I couldn't and still can't believe this. I am still trying to grasp what just happened. It's an online magazine, but it's still something!

I am not sure how everything works or what kind of questions I should be asking about copyright and all. I am not even sure I am getting paid for this, but I guess I'll see what happens.

Any tips would be appreciated.

By the way it's a magazine that's just starting it's publication.

@life-|Even the Tallest Tower Starts at the Bottom

Sure, I've rehd some of Napoleon Hill's writings saying that 'starting at the lowest point' is something for the un-educated, but that's referring to a 'person's' career--- My personally posted pages here might be called 'my' tower, because they did indeed start with my first few writings here; unless you see where I do 90% of my writing: commenting on the well-built blogs of established writers like yourself, who probably also spends 90% of your effort reading- and commenting on-other well-established writers. @life-is-sweet,Pasquinade: Thank Your Ancestors

That reminds me of a Science-channel show I was watching, where they were talking about the climates' effects on racial evolution. For instance, the aborigines of Australia scarcely sweat during the day (so they remain well-hydrated in the heat) and retain high body temperatures at night (when it's cold enough for clothed, white tourists to need extra blankets). ... signed, Uncle MythMan---Big Fan of stars like Tori Spelling, Fussin`, Vanessa Montagne & Lena Li--Xombie Plan

Thank you, but it's really not that bad

Thank you, but it's really not that bad. Really, it seems terrible and all, but it's not. Just the other day I had a woman make a comment about how I must be suffocating and I told her I wasn't. I was hot, but not to the point that it seemed. I really do believe that my cloth are actually protecting me from the sun and it's heat. Yes, it gets hot, but I am covered, so the sun is not having direct contact with my skin, it's just fighting with my clothe. Give it a try, go out fully clothed and see how it feels. Congrats, but...

I walk around the city in shorts and a tank top, and I'm still covered with sweat in a matter of minutes. (In fact, I even carry a mini-fan and spare deodorant for harsh times.) I congratulate you on your writing, and your ability to sustain the miserable New York humidity beneath your full-body cotton attire. Salute! Publicity from our writing

Interesting way of putting it and yes, you're right it is that first post that brought the publicity.

@life-is-sweet: Publicity - That's All that Past Work Really Is

Oh, the chip-counters can go on and revel in their pie-collections made on past works; but we true writers know that--as long as the publishers are throwing fresh chips to the new content--we who produce the content will never go ~too~-too hungry! ... signed, Uncle MythMan---Big Fan of stars like Sarah Michelle Gellar, Vanessa Montagne & Lena Li---Xombie Plan

Copyright law...

Thank you for the explanation! This does seem to be the way that it works. They need to ask for permission so that they won't get sued as you put it. I gave the publisher permission to publish my articles as long as my original content is kept in place. There is nothing I hate more than my words getting twisted, so if they do, then we can consider suing :)
