Thoughts on Hallloween With a Baby
posted October 28, 2009 - 4:25pmSo with Halloween right around the corner, I've been wondering what kind of stuff I should do with my baby to celebrate. Problem is, she's only a little over 6 months old, so it's a little bit early for her to really get any extra fun out of a holiday. Here's what I've tried so far:
Silly Halloween Baby Pictures.
It is never too early to start taking cute pictures of babies in costumes. She's a little tiger this year, complete with adorable hood with ears and detachable tail. To be honest, when I was out shopping while pregnant last halloween, I picked up a little black cat onesie in newborn size that was too adorable to skip, and got pictures of her hanging out with my real black cat almost as soon as she came home from the hospital in the spring.
Trick or treating.
Is it too early to go trick or treating? I haven't decided yet. It's definately too early for her, but how about for her hard working, long suffering mother? ;) I'm really tempted to dress her up in that adorable little costume and take her around the neighborhood anyway just to show the cuteness off and land myself a little bit of free chocolate. It'll be another opportunity for cute pictures to send to the family, which is always appreciated. Downside and what will probably keep me from doing it? Flu season. Oh well.
Pumpkin carving.
Well, she's definately too young to carve a pumpkin, but that doesn't mean I can't carve out a big one, sit her inside for a second, and take more cute pictures. I'm not sure I'll be able to find a pumpkin this close to Halloween, though. I may try. Downside to this one? Mess. Even a well cleaned out pumpkin is a bit slimy. This'll definately need to be followed by a bath. I'll have to be really careful to make sure there is nothing left in the pumpkin she can inadvertantly stick in her mouth, and watch her carefully anyway. Probably won't do it, but I'm really tempted.
Scary movies.
I wonder if she'd notice? Probably won't check. Might indulge after she's in bed, though.
