I am by no means an expert, I have managed to optimize my web sites, using Google Adsense, Amazon.com (Amazon Associates) and Chikita.

Chikita is great for those who have products to sell, but also has a non-product focus, such as blogs. You will sign up as and "advertiser." What is good about Chikita is that you can also run Google Adsense ads on the same page. Set up your account, giving your sites url, a description of your account, how many monthly impression you get, etc. Once approved, you will be given the embed code you need to put on your blog or website.

Amazon’s affiliate program, gives you the opportunity to make money from products sold from clicking you your Amazon.com widget. All you have to do is to pick a few items that you want to present to your reader. Like three books. Of course, the product you add to your widget, will represent the content on your blog or website.

These sites are a good place to start, if you want to make money on your blog or website. As readers click on the ads on your site or purchase a product through Amazon Associates you will begin to make money. Good luck!
