Time is Short, Time is Endless.

Time is Short, Time is Endless.

A new theory presented itself in the depths of my mind last night. It makes sense, and yet it confuses me, so I thought I might present it to the Xomba community in hopes that they may shed some light, or at least join the confusion so as to make me feel in good company.

It all started after pondering the paradox in which you can never truly count numbers because you are always missing some. An excerpt from the paradox of halves (if you take half a step from what you stepped earlier, you can never make it from point A to point B).

Anyway, since time is based on numbers you can never truly grow older because there is no defined beginning, middle, or end to time since it is said to be infinite. But then I got to thinking about time travel, and I believe it would technically be time travel, but it wouldn’t in the sense that wherever you travel wouldn’t be your timeline. If there are an infinite number of timelines it would make sense because it would account for every single point on any given timeline, so if you could find which dimension you want it would be as if you had traveled backwards in time. Infinity covers everything, so there would theoretically be an infinite number of points for every place you wanted to travel. Could be easy….could be hard. Who knows?

Well, I think my brain just turned to mush. I reread that post and it’s muddled, but for now I have no other way of getting my point across.

Good day,

Agreed

That's why I created the fact that although you cannot travel to the past on your own timeline, there is a past exactly like yours somewhere else. Anyway, in our current form I don't believe it's possible except the iffy Space Traveler theory as you stated. Black holes also offer up a nifty spot relative to that same theory.

You probably shouldn't stay

You probably shouldn't stay up so late...or maybe not count sheep while trying to fall asleep. That's too much thinking before bedtime for me. Anyway, time travel seems to be more like a bunch of hypothetical circumstances than actual plausible theories. And to date, no experiments have come close to any sort of time travel, just appearances of things traveling faster than light, but in reality they did not. There are tons of "theories" out there about how it could be possible ranging from wormholes, to vaccuums, to faster than light space travel. Some suggest that it's not possible because we haven't had any visitors from the future. Some people believe that if time travel was discovered, it would happen simultaneously throughout every point in time. And still others believe that it could happen in the future, but we will never know until we are able to create a time machine...then people from the future can be received by it. The machine itself can't travel to any point in time, like in 'Back to the Future', but if the machine exists, you can send objects or information to it from any point after it's creation. To me, time travel just sounds like something interesting for the scientist community to talk about during their free time. I think the only way it may be possible would be the space traveller theory, but that's not really time travel since you can't actually go back in time, only a perceived leap forward by the traveller themself. But hey, it won't hurt for them to keep trying.
