Tiny New Hampshire Town Kicks Off Primary
posted January 8, 2008 - 2:48amSeventeen people voted at the stroke of midnight and called the vote official at 12:03 a.m. in little Dixville Notch, New Hampshire. When the final vote was counted, Senator Barack Obama was the big winner overall, getting seven votes, Senator John McCain received four votes, former Senator John Edwards and Governor Mitt Romney both received 2 votes, and Governor Bill Richardson and ex-Mayor Rudy Giuliani both received a single vote.
The most noticeable thing about the vote? Hillary Clinton received no votes. If this is an indicator of New Hampshire's mood, the Clinton camp could be in trouble.
McCain and Obama both lead in the polls. When the New Hampshire polling places open at the more traditional 7 and 8 a.m. on Tuesday, January 8, we might see something quite different. However, if Dixville Notch is reflective of the mood of New Hampshire, the polls in this instance will be proven accurate...
