Tips for Handling Migraine Headaches

If you’ve ever experienced pain in one side of your head that causes you to double over and feel like you wanted to bang your head against a brick wall because the intensity was so strong, you likely had a migraine. Migraines are awful. They not only interfere with daily activities but they also make you sick to your stomach and can be very intense.

What I’ve noticed is that many migraines are triggered by certain conditions, foods and beverages. For instance, if you regularly suffer from sleep deprivation, are under stress, consume processed meat or aged cheese, drink alcohol, caffeine, aspartame or beverages, you are more likely to get migraines than someone who doesn’t.

What I’ve found is that eating healthier meals and avoiding trigger foods, practicing deep breathing, yoga, and meditation, getting massage therapy and acupressure, eliminating stress and taking vitamin E, B-2 and B-6 can help ward off migraine headache attacks tremendously. In addition, you may need Tylenol, Motrin or other pain relievers. However, some sufferers are only able to use prescription medications to relieve their pain.

In conclusion, migraine headaches suck but there are many things that you can do to prevent and alleviate the pain. Good luck.

Migraines suck

I rarely get one (maybe once a year) but when I do, I'm almost reduced to tears if I'm not able to lay down in a pitch dark room with no sounds whatsoever. The pain in your head is bad enough but when it reaches your eyes, causing it to hurt if you even move your eyes at all.... My partner, however, suffers from them roughly once a month. Has done so since he was little. Went for a brain scan in the beginning, told me years later that it showed a swollen hippocampus and had worried about it for all those years....until I told him that it only meant that he had a higher than average tolerance for pain that was caused by his migraines(there was a study...done by scientists...with research and all that).
