Top AdSense Earners: The Biggest "Google Whores"

Top AdSense Earners: The Biggest "Google Whores"

Since we're all hoping to make a few dollars from our Xomba writings, I was intrigued by an article I saw on Digg.com a few days ago. Entitled "The Internet’s Biggest Google Whores" (link below), the article claimed to show the top eight individuals who were earning the most AdSense income–and how much they were making.

The article appears on the blog of John Chow, who calls his site "The Miscellaneous Ramblings of a Dot Com Mogul." The interesting thing is that Chow was looking exclusively at individuals, not big corporate publishers like Time Warner or the many big-name news sites. He says that he assembled his rankings from interviews and articles, and in some cases the individuals sent Chow a photo of themselves holding up a check from Google.

So who's number one? According to Chow it's Markus Frind, founder of PlentyOfFish.com, a free dating site. Frind earns $300,000 per month in AdSense income, Chow says. And yes, he runs the Web site from his home–an inspiration to all of us who dream of working in our pajamas and having a 30-second commute to the office.

Number two is Kevin Rose, one of the founders of Digg.com, who Chow says earns $250,000 a month from Google ads. (For the complete list, see the link at the end of this xombyte.)

Comments on Chow's site suggest that the rankings may not be entirely accurate. Some people mention blog publishers who should be on the list, while others point out that folks making big bucks from Google ads may not want to publicize the fact.

Whether the rankings are precise or not, these eye-popping figures show the huge income potential in an area that didn't even exist a couple of years ago. Who knows, maybe the stories behind these sites will give us some lessons on how to increase earnings from AdSense.

I know for my blogs, I am

I know for my blogs, I am lucky to make $1/day on AdSense. Driving large volumes of traffic either takes luck or money. My interest in writing for Xomba is that it will collectively generate more traffic than I can on my own.

Average User

This Xombyte http://www.xomba.com/nick_s_top_5_hottest_toys_for_christmas made around 15-20 bucks. It still makes a little bit of money everyday.

Making money with AdSense

I don't know what the average AdSense user's experience is, but anyone can benefit from the techniques that these big earners use. Write about something you know and like, add new content often, let people know about your site so it will get more visits/reads and the chance at more clicks. Also read the Admin's articles on optimizing your articles for AdSense and related articles. Welcome to Xomba!

hmmm...

Good article...yet... Eye-popping figures are all find and dandy, but I am much more interested in what the average individual makes via Google and not the top 1%.

Details on the pay-per-post blog site

Just went to the payperpost.com site and it's pretty much what I mentioned above: they list opportunities from different advertisers, which can be as simple as putting a link on your blog to writing a product review. They list some sample opportunities and how much they paid for each. Some requirements--you must have had a blog up for 90 days and have at least 20 posts in the blog (with no gap of more than 30 days between posts), the content of each post must be unique (not posted elsewhere), etc. And once you've accepted a project you must submit the post to the company before it can be posted on your blog. Probably not something I'd pursue, but others might find it of interest.

Haven't heard of payperpost,

but heard of a similar outfit that pays you to write articles on your blog on specific topics. Sounds like something I wouldn't be comfortable doing; getting paid to write about a product or something but pretending it's just a topic that interests you, if I understand correctly. Like when someone next to you at a bar is raving to you about such-and-such vodka, except you don't know that they're being paid by the liquor company to hang out in bars and talk up the product.

Adsense

I came across another program www.payperpost.com has anybody used this? I thought that adding links to other sites cause the search engines to better recognise your site. I added a page on [b]Romance Writing! [/b} to www.writingfortheinet.blogspot.com today.
